The Story
As every other Mikulski wine this vintage as well is complex, yet is a robe of a light garnet. Soft and harmonious nose – sour cherries and plums; black fruit jelly with a mix of blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry; sweet spices with touches of cinnamon, brown sugar and curcuma; sweetness and poetry; a dwindling note of peony, tulip stem and geranium shoots; a hint of soot from the hearth; steamed pink-brown button mushrooms; a touch of violet – a lot of charm.
Mikulski likes to create a wine that is full-bodied on the palate yet easy to drink, with tender and silky mouthfeel. Tannins so ripe that their presence is hardly felt. The gradual increase of peppers, starting with white pepper at first and a hint of root ginger and black radish followed by coriander seeds all the way to cooked peppery verbena and Coeur de Boeuf tomato jam.
Almost all Mikulski wines has energetic finish. Spicy, sharper and with more tension than might be expected, wonderful length marked by spices and marinated herbs, mint, peppery verbena and coriander.
