The Story
100% Nebbiolo
Diego Conterno's Barolo is a medium-bodied wine with aromas of juicy, red cherries, wildflowers, a hint of menthol, and spice. It is well-balanced, with fine-grained tannins. Pairs well with grilled or braised meats.
This wine is from a selection of grapes from Conternoâs vineyards in Monforte dâAlba: âBricco San Pietro,â âSan Giovanniâ (near the village of Barolo) and âGinestraâ (closer to Serralunga), each vinified separately.
To Diego Conterno, wine is passion, interpretation, and art. Â It reflects the identity of a terroir: in this case, the Langhe of Monforte dâAlba. Diego has been considering the vineyards, the grapes, and the wine from this point of view for over 30 years. The first vintage under the label Diego Conterno was 2003; In 2010, Diegoâs son Stefano joined the operation.
The Conterno philosophy is simple: when you taste a wine, you have to experience the characteristics of the terroir. Â This is created in the vineyards and finds expression in the grapes. Â Each wine has its own history and soul, and tells us about a part of the Langhe region of Monforte dâAlba. Â The wines by Diego Conterno are all organic.
