The Story
Spain's answer to Aperol comes from the Rioja Alavesa, the Basque area of that noble wine producing region. Made from 100% pre-phylloxera Viura that is vinified with minimal sulfites. Made similarly to a Vermouth as the base wine is macerated with several roots, herbs and botanicals. These bitter and herbal botanicals include gentian root, chinchona bark, beet root, a blend of bitter citrus peels, elderberry, rhubarb, and notes of saffron. Natural wine, naturally colored, and un-naturally delicious!Â
Swap it in for Aperol in Spritzes or lower bitterness Negronis. Drink it over ice with a splash of soda and an orange peel.Â
